1.
we're living the end .... we're living; the end
2.
Burlap 02:10
i've been waiting far too long my heart a barren field at dawn leaves surround my body my hands empty smiling dressed in burlap clothes my soul a lotus in repose leaves surround my body my hands empty
3.
dreamt i heard you singing like a sparrow, woke up laughing tired eyed and letting every moment go slipping past me i've been waiting, waiting for a vision to come and take me someday soon i'll see your shining face again someday, someday
4.
i saw the light i heard the sound i saw the light and i let go sparrow, keep on singing (ha ha ha)
5.
Rattlesnake 02:51
in bed with a rattlesnake kissing the hand that takes and takes always wanting always hungry water the soil and hold the fruit in your hands someday away from harm someday we'll sleep in loving arms without worry without shame we'll know love's name water the soil and hold the fruit in your hands (the sky stretched out its crying mouth the night dissolved into a sound)
6.
cow in a field of lilies the children will eat the cattle the horse will detest the saddle but man will ride regardless his hunger has no harness he'll strip the earth for harvest pure and simple look at the man, kissing high leaves of the foliage cow in a field of lilies the children will eat the cattle the horse will be free of her saddle and man will ride on nothing his every action loving he'll feel the light above him and he'll smile ... i don't need to see the sun i don't need love
7.
Bull 02:57
bull is lying on the ground his fur is grey his eyes are brown the matador he wipes his hands and blows a kiss to all his fans a trail of smoke tailing me i hear your voice humming endlessly charging bull doesn't think twice doesn't pause or blink his eyes the present is a gift to him tomorrow is a distant thing

9.
it's more like the kiss of a hammer or a hundred spades at the mouth of a grave or how the paper hearts of men were folded into money and unfolded into shame or how the rough skin of a revelation was stretched over a wilting landscape or how we spun ourselves into a darkness of quiet and dust so we took ourselves to the mountain's edge and saw with naked eyes the earth whose face was a blistered red desert whose body was a hollowed out gourd; and out from the valley a voice emerged ... waiting for your miracle you're hanging on the edge nothing ever happens now your providence is dead we saw mountains crumble we saw markets tumble birds singing, birds singing and i saw the face of a terrible thing a hand from above won't quit taking, taking, taking waiting at the crossroads what are we to do? everything is changing now everything anew death of a season a new world is waiting for you ... so we turned around, descended the mountain returned to ground

about

recorded at the onset of 2020, between two hazy tours into the depths of the northeast, this tape is a collagelike wander thru dreams, visions, loves, & apocalypses (real and imagined). assembled in the heart of a light winter, now, it feels more like a remembrance of something gone, a season dead, a memory dressed up in a penumbra of snow.

it feels fitting then to release the album now, as summer slips into the harvest season. this is autumn music, or more the music of autumn.

"what voice,
what song, spider,
in the autumn wind?"

- Basho

1/4 of all digital proceeds from this album will be donated to the First Friends of NJ and NY, an organization that advocates for and assists detained immigrants and asylum seekers in New York and New Jersey.
